Located directly behind the Sacred Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, the International Buddhist Museum presents a unique concept of depicting the spread of Buddhism across Asia, with each country being responsible for maintaining its own exhibits. With aspects of both Therevada and Mahayana Buddhism being presented, it is possibly the best place to make a comparative study of the subtle differences of the faith and the traditions each country associates with it. Other than the section on Sri Lanka, the museum features galleries from India, Nepal, China, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, Bhutan, Korea, Japan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
