Barberyn Island Lighthouse is located at least 56 kilometers off Colombo and at least 5 kilometers off of the town of Bentota on the southwestern coast of the country. It is in the vicinity of Cinnamon Bey, Beruwala. The Barberyn Reef Hotel is one of the finest Beruwala hotels. The lighthouse here, also called the Beruwala Lighthouse is a massive monument about 112 feet in height. It is a white, conical granite tower. It is now a tourist attraction and it helps to draw in a massive number of people. Barberyn is one of the four international lighthouses in Sri Lanka. Its construction was completed in 1889 under the patronage of the Imperial Lighthouse Service. It can be called a landmark in Sri Lanka history from the latter stages of the colonial era.
