How It All Started
Travel Lanka Compass (TLC), the premier authority on travel and destination expertise in Sri Lanka, was established by Leo Fernando in 2012. Since our inception, we’ve dedicated ourselves to curating tailor-made travel experiences that cater to the unique preferences and travel styles of our clients. With a commitment to exceptional personalized service and meticulous attention to detail, we ensure that every journey with us embodies the pinnacle of what Sri Lanka has to offer.
In 2013, we launched Sri Lanka’s first hailing app to consolidate a fragmented transportation industry. Our value proposition was to focus on improving comfort and safety standards by using technology as an enabler. However, we soon discovered our core values would benefit tourism in Sri Lanka, and Travel Lanka Compass was born.
Our Story
In 2014 we started focusing on tourism by offering a car & driver booking service. With our service offerings gaining traction within the diplomatic community residing in Sri Lanka, we started learning and investing in the art of curating customized Sri Lanka holiday experiences. Over the years, we’ve seen bookings for our Tailor-made holidays increase and to date, we have handled more than 500 holiday bookings.
Our journey in Travel has been incremental. We’ve taken the time to learn, listen, and use feedback to grow Travel Lanka Compass to what it is today – A boutique travel partner, putting itself in the travelers’ shoes and offering Sri Lanka’s best in line with travelers’ interests, without compromising on ethics.

Leo Fernando
Leadership & Vision
Leo is the founder of Travel Lanka Compass and comes from a private & public equity market research and investment management background. Prior to setting up TLC, Leo Fernando was the Chief Investment Officer at a New York-based private equity company in Sri Lanka. He has also worked as a financial analyst for a Singapore-based hedge fund and a European investment bank. Leo started his career at KPMG and is a CFA Charterholder (USA) & Chartered Accountant.
During the Covid period, Leo got back into investment banking and help set up a boutique investment bank that purely focused on M&A advisory services. In addition to TLC, Leo sits on a few boards as an independent director and also does a few cross-border strategy consultancy services for SMEs.
