A 12th-century medieval capital and a World Heritage Site, Polonnaruwa Ancient City is probably one of the best archeological relics in Sri Lanka it contains palaces, dagobas, and temples, and provides a good example of Sri Lankan historical craftsmanship.
Since you would be visiting some temples, we recommend modest dress code, trainers or flip flops. If you wish to wear shorts, we suggest that you bring a sarong. You should also bring a hat or cap and sunscreen.
