Diyatha Uyana or “water garden” is a novel outdoor recreational area located in the suburban area of Battaramulla and near the Parliamentary complex. Lying along the banks of the Diyawanna River, Diyatha Uyana with its well-maintained walking track, offers an escape from the cramped confines of the city and makes it an ideal location for a family outing. A popular attraction with children is the circular aquarium featuring an interesting collection of fish, 3D ground paintings depicting water features that are rather immersive, and boat rides on the river. The Good Market fair, held every Thursday, features small producers offering wares from homemade food products to handicrafts and organic farming resources and is a very popular event. On weekends, a horticultural fair takes place perfect for finding something suitable for your garden.
