Located 25km from Ella, Dunhinda Falls at a height of 193ft is considered one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful waterfalls. Lying on the Badulu Oya, the falls spew from a narrow gap in its crest and thunder into the pool below, creating a permanent mist in the surrounding area. It is from this that Dunhinda gets its name as “dun” when translated means mist or smoke. Although a 1.5km walk along a marked trail is required to reach the falls, it is richly rewarded with a spectacular view from the viewing platform.
