Trekking in Knuckles mountain range is an absolute paradise with a number of trails to be explored. Winding through dense forest, across little streams, and over open montane grassland, passing tea estates and isolated village communities, the trails provide a view of unspoiled beauty of the region.
Trail 1: Trek up Corbert’s gap
Around 9:30 AM, Start trek up to the Corbert’s Gap viewpoint on a trail through tea plantations, pygmy forest, cloud forests and plateau with grassland. Endemic birds, mammals, fresh water creatures in crystal clear water streams could be observed. Enjoy the panoramic view at the Corbert’s Gap viewpoint surrounded by thick jungles and mountains. 1 PM have lunch and walk back to the starting point of trek.
Trail 2: Trek to base camp
Around 9:00 AM, Start trek from a historical village with panoramic views of large terrace rice and vegetable fields up to base camp. Endemic birds, mammals, fresh water creatures in crystal clear water streams could be observed. Around 1 PM have lunch at the base camp and trek down to a tea plantation with views of Victoria reservoir. Return to starting point of trek.
Trail 3: Trek up Knuckles summit
Around 9:30 AM, Start trek up to the Knuckles summit on a trail through tea plantations, pygmy forest, cloud forests and plateau with grassland. Endemic birds, mammals, fresh water creatures in crystal clear water streams could be observed. Enjoy the panoramic view at the Knuckles summit surrounded by jungles. Around 1 PM have picnic lunch and walk back to the starting point of trek.
Trail 4: Trek up Leopard rock
Around 9:30 AM, Start trek up to the Leopard rock on a trail through tea plantations, pygmy forest, cloud forests and plateau with grassland. Endemic birds, mammals, fresh water creatures in crystal clear water streams along with a visit to the highest cascading waterfall in Sri Lanka. Enjoy the panoramic view at the Knuckles mountain from Leopard rock. Around 1 PM have picnic lunch and walk back to the starting point of trek.
