A bird sanctuary in the Northern Province, specifically the Jaffna District, the Chundikulam Sanctuary is nearly 50 square kilometers of prime real estate and breeding grounds for various creatures. It had once been destroyed by the LTTE during the civil war and at one time was only second to the famed Kumana Sanctuary. It has recently been reopened to the public.
