Horton Plains National Park
Horton Plains National Park lies at an elevation of 7,000 feet and is well worth a visit for its scenic beauty, natural formations and birdlife.
Perched at an elevation of 6,000ft, Nuwara Eliya lies at the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country, from where prized Ceylon tea originates. Established during British colonial times by pioneering tea planters, the city still bears vestiges of the period in its architecture and landscape. Thus Nuwara Eliya is fondly referred to as Little England.
Located in Nuwara Eliya, a speciality of the Hakgala gardens is its emphasis on temperate species, beautifully laid out over its terraced slopes.
Lovers Leap is a 98-foot fall located just outside Nuwara Eliya town. Its source is the many streams that runoff from the country’s tallest mountain, Pidurutalagala.
