Dondra Lighthouse
The Dondra Lighthouse, standing at 49 metres (161 feet), is the tallest lighthouse in Sri Lanka. Its located at the southernmost tip of Sri Lanka.
One of the most beautiful places in Sri Lanka, Weligama, or “sand village” also boasts some of the best and most beautiful beaches in the whole island. There are many small villages in the area, most of them having the classical features of a small maritime settlement. Sometimes, it is easy for one to spot them nestled on the sand against deep green forests and coconut groves. Weligama on the whole is a sandy sweep bay.
The Dutch Star Fort of Matara, shaped like a six-pointed star, was built by the Dutch during the Kandy era. Its uniqueness is right in its very name.
Kushta Raja Gala was built as a Mahayana Buddhist site, with a statue of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. The name translate as King with skin condition.
The Koggala Folk Museum holds a good collection traditional masks, former modes of transport & everyday implements from time of yore.
